Coonabarabran - Sunday 28 August

We left Sydney on Saturday morning in a "pea souper" fog rying to get to Fullerton Cove near Newcastle for a protest at a Dart Energy "information meeting". Unfortunately the fog, road works and heaps of traffic slowed us down and we missed it. We were disappointed to miss it. Well done to local residents who organised the protest.

We spent the night at Merriwa in the Upper Hunter (a lovely village with an active anti-CSG group).

We arrived at Cooonabarabran on Sunday in time to visit the local markets and have lunch. The markets were along the footpaths under shop awnings. It was full of locally produced goods and plants including a seed saver stall. What a fantastic job seed savers are doing!

We met up with Jane and Milton Judd from the local anti-CSG group who had organised the community meeting.

The community meeting was well atended and drew from right across the local community. There were lots of questions and much discussion and a strong commitment to holding a local event on the National Day of Action on 16 October.

We spent the night at the local caravan park and enjoyed a lovely home cooked Paella (with a few nice wines) with Jane and Milton.

Cheers
Michael & Julie
