Running Stream - Friday 9 September

We met up with Jolieski from the Running Stream Water Users Association to have a tour of the area around Mt Vincent before the community meeting.

It was a fantastic tour, tinged with apprehension, looking at what might be lost with the advent of coal mining in the area.

After the tour we met up with other members of the group for dinner at Foxwood Farm cafe. It was a lovely meal and they also had lots of goodies for sale. When we left Michael's wallet was somewhat lighter after the plastic took a battering.

The community meeting was held at the Running Stream Hall. The attendance was smaller than expected. we were not surprised after we found out that snow was predicted that night on the mountain. Even with the smaller numbers it was an inspiring meeting.
Sister Patricia Powell, from the Sisters of Mercy at Bathurst, spoke movingly of  the link between spirituality and ecology. The Sisters have started an environmental centre at bathurst calle Rahamim. If we get a chance we plan to call in and spend some time there.
The Sisters of Mercy website also includes information about the campaign against coal seam gas mining. Onya Sisters!

We drove carefuly and slowly back to Mudgee to avoid falling foul of kangaroos and snow.

Cheers
Michael & Julie
